Dealt and Contributed rake

Among all the different factors that influence the value of a rakeback deal, the rake calculation method that the poker room in question uses is probably the most important. You see, different poker rooms use different methods to calculate the rake contribution of each individual player (which is the basis for the rakeback you’ll get at the end of the month).

Some poker rooms use the dealt rake method. This means that each of the players who is dealt cards in a hand is credited with a certain percentage of the resulting rake, whether or not he actively takes part in it. This method provides an obvious advantage to tight and passive players, because they can rack up rakeback without actually putting their money on the line. In the same time, loose aggressive players will end up generating rake (and thus rakback) for others.

The contributed rake calculation method is a much more accurate one, though there are variations to it. One such variation divides the resulting rake equally among the players who actively take part (put money into the pot) in a hand.

The most accurate contributed rake method is the one that awards MGR percentages in direct proportion with the amount of money a player wagers in a hand. This method gives an edge to loose aggressive players, who will be able to fully enjoy the fruits of their risky ways, without aiding tight-passive ‘parasites’.

Tight passive players will be awarded little MGR in such poker rooms, and therefore their rakeback earning potential will also diminish.

Make your choice carefully based on your style of play. Trust me, it can make a huge difference.
